Calling all Nature Lover: Great Addition to your floor choices - Cork or Bamboo Floor. We ask Floor Master Expert, Mishel
Bamboo or
cork floors are also a great addition to any home without damaging the
environment. These woods make sustainable wood flooring as they are renewable
and can be replenished quicker than other trees. Cork trees can be harvested
every 10 years while bamboo trees in every 5-7 years. Due to some extent that
these types of trees grow back faster than other trees, there is no harm to
cause at all. Once these sustainable wood floors are installed in our home, the only thing you should be worried about is your maintenance plan.
Features of Cork Floor:
- Softer than bamboo
- Less likely to scratch from constant exposure to paws, claws and point shoes
- It won't easily dent or wrap
- Quieter to walk on because the material absorbs sound and noise
- Highly resistant to mold, mildew, fire and insects
- Safe and healthy for pets and children

Bamboo, actually a grass,
grows very fast, and serves many functions as well. Bamboo can be used as
flooring materials, however, it should be harvested in its peak, about after
just five to eight years. The bamboo is seen by many as a far more sustainable
option when compared to traditional hardwood floors because it grows fast than
any other wood or timber.
Features of Bamboo Floor:
- Harder than cork
- More susceptible to scratches
- Naturally stain resistant
- It is easy to repair
- It can have stain and scratches
- It can be sanded down or buffed out but it can't be refinished
- Damage planks need to be completely replaced
- It comes in multiple stain and color
- It closely resembles hardwood in most instances
- It is easy to incorporate with existing hardwood floor
